TravelDailyNews: How do you see the future of independent hotel and resorts in the international market? Could they be as competitive as the great hotel chains?

Mokhtar Ramadan: I think that one reason for launching this product was to give a hand to them of competing with the big hotel groups. I think that they have a very good future as they are unique, different and attractive to the segment of the market we are going after but they do not have loyalty programs to compete with big names. Hopefully, with the Voila product they will have the chance to compete and effectively promote theirselves to the market rather than relying on third parties such as Expedia or the ones that cost them a lot of money... Voilà prepares to sign first Middle East Clients

Following the launch of Voilà Hotel Rewards at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London last month, the company’s CEO, Mokhtar Ramadan, told Hotelier Middle East that Voilà is currently in the process of finalising agreements with two "major independent brands” in the region.

"We have been in negotiations with two groups in the Middle East for a couple of months now, but I can’t reveal who the groups are at present because I’m under a non-disclosure agreement until the papers are all signed and sealed,” said Ramadan.

"We are meeting with the clients soon and we hope to finalise the details. I would say that with luck they will both be onboard by the end of the year,” he continued. "But that’s as much as I can say for now.”

Having had a strong presence in the Middle East for 12 years, Ramadan is confident that keen interest from hotels in this region will play a major part in helping Voila to reach its worldwide goals of having 1000 hotels on its books by 2007 and 5.3 million end-user members by 2010... HUSA FIRST HOTEL GROUP TO JOIN VOILA HOTEL REWARDS
